Status
Membership of the Irmandade do Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres
The Irmandade do Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres is an association of the faithful, for non-profit purposes, located in the Canonical Legal Order, and headquartered at the Esperança Convent, in Ponta Delgada, with legal, canonical and civil character, being recognized as a private institution of social solidarity.
The Irmandade aims to practice social solidarity, especially in support of families, and to perform acts of worship to Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres.
The Irmandade is constitute of all current Brothers and those who may be admitted, being able to be Brothers or Sisters as individuals, over 18 years of age, who meet the following conditions:
– Be connected by ties of affection to the cult of Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres;
– Good moral and social reputation;
– Accept the principles of Christian doctrine and morals of the Irmandade and that, consequently, do not hostile, by any means, namely, by their social conduct or activity, the Catholic religion and the worship of the Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres.
The membership of the Irmandade do Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres is, on this date, made up of about 500 Brothers and Sisters, many of whom are not resident in the Azores, mainly coming from Azorean communities spread throughout the World and which, by tradition, family or by choice, resulting from reasons of a personal nature, who wish to remain connected to the secular worship of Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres.
